The road that led to Children’s Library Design was a long and winding one, each step having been exciting, and everything learned along the way having informed our current designs for children’s libraries.

Designing for theatre and television (our roots) taught us how to stretch our imaginations in limitless ways.  It also taught us to listen to a Director (or, as the case may now be, the Library Director) because they steer the course, and to rise to the challenge of figuring out how to conquer the seemingly impossible task of fitting dozens of scenes and locations on one stage.  No one knows logistics better than a set designer.  It also gave us an enormous respect for budget, and for getting the job done on time (opening night IS opening night -- there’s no “do you mind if we finish this a few weeks late?”).

We eventually put these skills to good use in both the corporate and retail worlds, designing themed retail stores and corporate meetings, which was a natural lead-in to exhibits, which led to our first invitation to design a children’s library.

At that first children’s library ribbon-cutting, hearing the children say “oh, wow, I want to come to the library ALL the time now!” sealed the deal.  While we are still happy to design the occasional set for a TV show or the stage for a corporate meeting, the heart of our business now is in children’s library design.  The uniqueness of our designs, unparalleled in the children’s decor industry, has been built on all the facets of design you see below.
